Located in the bustling streets of Covent Garden, Milk Train is responsible for all the "ice cream wrapped in cloud shaped cotton candy" pictures on your Instagram feed.

Featuring cloud-like ceilings and neon signage, Milk Train was a must visit for the houseof team.

Their brief for the first Milk Train store, was to cater primarily to the brand’s diverse Instagram demographic. The outcome won ‘Best Experiential Design’ at The Drum Awards 2019 and was also shortlisted for ‘Best Café Design’ at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2019.

Walking into Milk Train, instantly makes you feel like you are stepping on a train bound for the clouds.  Orders are placed at the ticket booth, with split-flap display boards showing ice cream combinations, with a bench suitably located, for you to sit and wait on, before you board the Milk Train.

With the main inspiration being the aesthetic of the classic British steam train, the interior features grand arches, platform signage and mosaic tiling. Playful ‘Mind the Melt’ messaging features on the floor as well as a hatbox, with suitcases inside, featuring a neon sign which lights up the wording “daydreams & ice-creams".

The two-dimensional cloud shapes, suspended from the ceiling, give the illusion of steam from a train’s chimney. Whilst the exterior features opaque glass, that mimics the steaming of a train window.

The pale blue leather seating booths are numbered like train platforms, ready for excited passengers to take their seat. The combination of pastel colours and light surfaces enhance the feeling of being outside. The interior style is reminiscent of the old Art Deco movement, which was made popular amongst traditional train stations and platform iconography.

Large metal arch structures with globe lighting feature throughout the space, creating a dramatic statement, whilst offering a wide pool of light. Adorned with purple faux flowers, the interior is interchangeable across all seasons, meaning it can evolve as quickly as Instagram trends do.

Get the look in your home by styling the curve floor lamp over a dining table or in a modern living room.

We love the idea of adding some faux flowers to the floor lamp, to change the look and bring a summer feel to your interior.

Also available in a wall light, the dramatic charcoal curved arm and over-sized glass opal ball creates a real statement, whilst offering practical lighting.

Whilst there, we obviously had to try out the ice cream and milkshakes, which didn’t disappoint!
